I’m sharing my story so you won’t have to go through what I did
Scammers wear lots of different disguises.
Some scammers flash official-looking badges; they look like they’re from the government. They’re here to protect you.
Some call you on the phone and inform you that your kid has been locked up and needs bail money. They’re here to help you.
Others send an email, pretend to be your friend and ask you for a favor. They remind you that “a friend in need is a friend indeed.” They’re the ones who got me.
My scammer looked like a fellow volunteer for our local food distribution center. Her name is Tammy.
We had served together that Saturday morning and it was now the afternoon. I was checking my email when I received an urgent text from Tammy. She had just tried to send her favorite niece a gift card for her birthday and was shocked when she couldn’t access her account. She hated to ask but Would I send her niece a gift card from my Amazon account?
