My maternal grandmother was a Russian Jew who came to the USA when she was about 12 years old in 1901 because her family had begun to experience persecution. My mother continually warned us that as girls descended from a Jewish family we could be targeted, too. I have never forgotten that warning and take to heart the horrors being perpetrated even today on Jewish people. We must stand with Israel and protect our Jewish neighbors.
