Are You Searching for the Missing Pieces?
Keep looking
I had worked on my puzzle every afternoon for several weeks when I discovered three missing pieces. I searched for them everywhere.
I crawled under the table, shook the puzzle box, examined the sorting trays, and lifted the chair cushions. Those pieces were gone, and my beautiful puzzle remained incomplete.
A few weeks later when I had given up hope of finding the missing pieces, I dug into the pocket of my bathrobe for a tissue and pulled out — you guessed it — those three errant pieces. My delight was indescribable. I even called my best friend to share my joy.
The parable of the lost coins
In Luke 15:8–10, Jesus tells the story of a poor woman who frantically searches for her lost coins. When she finds them, she rejoices and invites her neighbors to celebrate. Jesus likens her experience to the return of one sinner to God’s family and says, “There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
